About Daisy
Biography
I am a first-generation Latina university student studying Biomedical Sciences with a double minor in Spanish and Women and Gender Studies at Northern Arizona University. I am also a current RISE fellow under the Cope Lab Group at the Pathogenic and Microbiome Institute.
My research interests have always been all over the place and really never had something I was truly passionate about until I took my Microbiology course. I remember when we spoke about the human microbiome briefly, right then and there I fell in love with learning more about it. As I continued taking courses, I kept learning what I was interested in and some of those topics include the roles of the microbiota in chronic illnesses and the links to the environment, genetic factors, and genetic disorders and how the microbiome/microbiota play a role.
